St. Mary’s County History Day Invites Students to Explore “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History”
Historic Sotterley, in partnership with St. Mary’s County Library and Maryland Humanities, announces the upcoming St. Mary’s County History Day, taking place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Leonardtown branch of St. Mary’s County Library. This year’s theme, “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History,” challenges students to investigate pivotal moments in history, differing perspectives on those moments, and how they impacted the events that came after.
St. Mary’s County History Day is the district-level contest affiliated wit Maryland History Day and National History Day, offering students in grades 4 through 12 the opportunity to conduct in-depth research and present their findings in one of five categories:
- Paper
- Exhibit
- Documentary
- Website
- Performance
Participants develop essential academic and real-world skills, including critical thinking, research, communication, and creativity. Winners from St. Mary’s County History Day have the opportunity to advance to the Maryland History Day competition on May 2, 2026.
