Videos and Media
Although our mission is deeply rooted in illuminating the past, we are determined to bring you modern and convenient ways to engage with us. No matter where you are, we want you to be able to experience the stories, perspectives, and community that Sotterley has to offer. Below are all the ways you can find Sotterley content.
To join our programming as it happens, please check our events calendar for upcoming dates.

YouTube
Interested in past programming or the stories of our descendants? We are currently working to archive as much as possible to our YouTube and hope to make it a place you can visit any time you miss a virtual event.

Common Ground
Each year Sotterley offers free programming to reach our goals of bringing more education and culture to our community. The Common Ground Initiative aims to bring together Sotterley descendants, community, and partners to tackle topics of racism, discrimination, equality, and activism. We often host speakers that coincide with our Common Ground Initiative during our Sotterley Presents:Â People and Perspectives programming. You can check the events page for upcoming speakers.
Speaker Series (Retired)
Previously, Sotterley hosted Speaker Series, with a mission to "serve as an exceptional educational and cultural resource which explores topics to enrich, expand, and sometimes challenge our understanding of the world we inhabit."Â Speaker Series topics included connection to our land, shared histories and stories, and pressing social issues. Many Speaker Series events had large overlaps with Common Ground, which could confuse our audience. In 2022, we made the decision to rebrand these speaker events to Sotterley Presents: People and Perspectives to encompass both Speaker Series and Common Ground speakers. If you'd like to see previous Speaker Series information and videos, you can visit the archived page below.
Sotterley's Vault
Don't see a past event you were interested in on our YouTube? Don't worry! Some events are still located on our vault page while we work on archiving all our content. Speaker's Series, Common Grounds events, and The Big Picture are currently still located in the Vault until our archiving is complete.
